A 10-minute mobility routine of hip, spine and shoulder movements can loosen a desk-stiff body, and you don't need to flip a car to benefit. The Roadster's mid-air stunt is impressive. Being able to squat and reach overhead without grumbling is more useful.
Pick a short workout and add this routine before or after it.
Check with your doctor before starting new movement routines, especially with back, neck or joint problems.
Why mobility matters after 35
Hours seated can tighten hips and round shoulders. That makes squats awkward, deadlifts risky and everyday tasks stiff. Mobility work gently restores range of motion. Read lose weight with a desk job for more on desk-life habits.
The 10-minute routine
Move slowly. Stay within comfortable ranges. Breathe.
- Cat-cow (8 slow reps): On hands and knees, round and arch the spine
- Thread the needle (6 per side): Rotate through the upper back
- World's greatest stretch (4 per side): Lunge, elbow towards the floor, rotate and reach
- Hip 90/90 switches (8 reps): Sit, rotate knees side to side
- Deep squat hold (3 × 20 seconds): Hold something stable if needed
- Doorway chest stretch (2 × 30 seconds): Open the chest gently
- Wall slides (10 reps): Back to the wall, slide arms up and down
- Hamstring stretch (2 × 30 seconds per leg)
- Neck easy rotations (5 each side): Very gentle
- Deep breathing (1 minute)
The "barrel roll" bonus
Lie on your back, hug your knees and gently rock side to side. A short rolling motion can feel nice on a stiff back. Skip it if it hurts.
When to do it
- First thing in the morning for 5 minutes
- After sitting for an hour
- As a warm-up before strength work
- Before bed to unwind

Pair it with strength
Mobility helps you move well. Strength keeps the gains. Combine this with 30-minute workout at home for men or the launch-ramp workout.
Common mistakes
- Forcing a stretch into pain
- Bouncing
- Holding your breath
- Doing it once and expecting a miracle
